A walk behind floor scrubber is the right machine when a ride-on cannot physically get there. Narrow aisles, U-shaped racking, ramps, mezzanine access, lift doors and shop floors crowded with machinery all rule out a seated machine — a walk behind floor scrubber still scrubs and dries the full width in one pass.
The trade-off is productivity per hour, so the deciding numbers on any walk behind floor scrubber machine are deck width and tank size. Our range runs from compact 17-inch units for back-of-house and retail, up to 24-inch battery machines that hold enough solution for a full shift without a refill stop.
Deck width is also what separates one walk behind automatic scrubber from another in the same family. Two machines with the same tank can differ by six inches of deck, and that difference decides how many passes an open shop floor takes. We size the walk behind automatic scrubber against your aisle widths first, then against area.
If you have been comparing a walk behind auto scrubber with a corded unit, the difference is usually cable management rather than cleaning performance. A corded walk behind floor machine costs less up front and suits fixed routes near a power point; a battery walk behind automatic scrubber removes the trip hazard entirely, which is why most commercial buyers choose battery for anything above occasional use.
We build these on the same line as our ride-on machines, which means the disc brushes, squeegees and pad drivers you replace later come from the same factory — not from a third-party parts channel.

Anhui Aikerui Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. has manufactured floor scrubbers and cleaning equipment since 2008, from our own 10,000+ sqm factory in Anqing, Anhui, China. We hold CE and ISO 9001 certification and export to more than 50 countries.
Because we build both the machines and the brushes, squeegees and pad drivers that go on them, you buy replacement consumables direct from the same production line — usually 30-50% below dealer pricing, with no middle-man markup.
As a working rule, a walk behind floor scrubber is the better value below roughly 2,000 sqm of cleanable area, or wherever the layout prevents a ride-on from manoeuvring. Above that, a ride-on usually pays for itself through labour hours saved.
Corded units cost less up front and suit fixed routes near a power point. Battery models remove the trip hazard and cable management entirely, which is why most commercial buyers choose battery for anything above occasional use. We supply both lead-acid and lithium variants of every deck width.
The two terms describe the same class of machine: a self-propelled or push scrubber that applies solution, scrubs and vacuums the water back in one pass. A walk behind auto scrubber is simply the walk-behind configuration of an automatic scrubber, as opposed to a ride-on. Both do the same job; the choice is about aisle width and cleanable area, not about the cleaning method.
A walk behind automatic scrubber is sized by your narrowest aisle first and your area second. Our walk behind floor scrubber machine range covers 17 to 24 inch working widths. Narrower decks fit tight aisles and doorways; wider decks cut the number of passes on open shop floors. Tell us your narrowest aisle and doorway width and we will match the model.
Not quite. Walk behind floor machine is a broader term that can include single-disc buffers and polishers as well as scrubbers. A walk behind floor scrubber specifically applies and recovers water, so it cleans instead of only polishing. If you need scrubbing and drying in one pass, you want the scrubber.
Traction is the limiting factor rather than power. For ramps and dock levellers we recommend the drive-assisted models, and we will ask for the gradient so we can confirm the specification before quoting.
Tell us your floor area, surface type and daily cleaning hours — we will recommend the right model and quote factory-direct. OEM branding and spare parts available.
